Why Is My Solar Battery Exporting to the Grid?

When a solar battery system starts exporting electricity to the grid, it’s because the battery storage is fully charged and the solar panels continue to generate excess electricity.

Solar panel systems are designed to first meet the immediate energy needs of the home. Once those needs are met, any additional electricity generated is directed towards charging the battery storage. Once the battery reaches its capacity, the system has two options: export to the grid (if an agreement is in place), or let the energy go to waste.
